It is nothing less than re-birth considering the fact that this piece comes after almost nine months of the last blog post. Needless to say nothing apart from a bloody compelling reason will suffice when it comes to wake up the slumbering fingers.
And compelling reason it is. To begin with, I moved out of homeland into what appears to be a promise of a roller coaster ride. Being a new city away from home is just another of the smaller reasons. Life, in many ways, has hit the reboot button. Well, the temporary memory got full of junk and a reboot looked like the only option that would take it further many strides. At least in the foreseeable future.
Much as expected, the turn of events in the new city are turning out to be as expected! A new culture is not as shocking that fact that no matter where you go, humans are all the SAME. In the words of a famous economist, (I wish I could have googled his name and inserted here but I am going to keep off that), human beings are rational choice makers. It was something to that effect. And if a large majority of us behave in a rational manner (read desire a life of fulfillment, wish and do good for people around us, respect others for what they are, understand the value of hard work and destiny we will lead ourselves to the same acts no matter which land we owe allegiance to.
So if you’re driving a taxi in KL or NYC, if you accept your predicament in the most positive manner you will be honest, the ride in your taxi will get out of your taxi with a smile which he will take home to his wife, who will feed him the best meal. The next morning, he may take your taxi to work, tip you a sweet extra dollars with which you will buy yourself some extra cheese on your burger. Repeat this process enough number of times and you have enough to possibly get yourself what you always wanted. Possibly.
That said, much has also happened in the last nine months with me turning a new leaf on the social front. I got actively back on twitter, trying to run an experiment. I have chosen to call it the Reverse Engineering Thought experiment. Much like this blog, Twitter is my state of mind. Evidently, the blog is screaming for justice but its not the same for Twitter. In any case, both are meant to serve the same purpose. It’s a barometer of my state of mind. It will be worth my time after 5 years from now to see how and what my tweets say. Hopefully they will provide a logical flow of emotions (flowing in tandem with age and not otherwise) and will be a reasonable checkpoint where I will take a shot at what may come next. In the event of adversity, it will help me prepare and otherwise, a celebrity ‘pop’ will be in the offing.
Meanwhile, the primary occupation continues unabated in asking me more and more questions. I believe that is but natural for a person as indecisive as me. I have a massive consolation – I am not confused about what I want to do, I know what I don’t want to do and I am not doing that thankfully. If you take it one day at a time and give it your best possible shot, no matter where or when you pit stop to look behind, there will be more to look forward to than to mull and regret.
