What if?
A spine chilling thought struck me today. What if one day there was no internet?
I searched it on Google and there it was!! It is unbelievable, simply unbelievable. What the internet has done to our generation is unmatched. No, we do not care if there is water on mars, niether do we want to know if Osama is alive and we also do not care what gets built in Ayodhya. All we care about is about the well bieng of the internet. Or the web, as some would like to now call it.
This struck me while I was trying to figure out one of the many questions that struck me through my busy day. As usual I began by looking for the 'answer' on google. I found it. Then another, then another and then another till I stopped, took a tentative backward step and asked myself. I wont even mention the question again as it'll bring back the spine chilling feeling again.
From directions to loans to discussions to iPhone jailbreaks to laptop repair solutions. Nothing would have ever happened if it wasnt for Google.
So what does it mean for most of us. Do we follow the age old maxim of taking nothing for granted or do we soak it in while it lasts. At the end of the day it is a matter of personal choice. But given that 'personal' is going to be redefined very soon, where does it leave the majority of us? Suspended animation, I heard.
I dont know, nobody knows. The principle of creative destruction is comforting, atleast we know theres something better than the web on its way. Something better than the web you ask? who knows.
